Moments after announcing Miss Colombia won, Harvey said he made a mistake and announced Miss Philippines is Miss Universe. "I will take full responsibility for this," said Harvey. "This is exactly what's on the card." The audience responded to the awkward error with boos. The camera captured Miss USA nudging a chocked and confused Miss Philippines to tell her she should go to the front.   The outgoing Miss Universe removed the $300 thousand crown from her fellow country woman's head and placed it on the actual winner, Pia Alonza Wurtzbach, as everyone took in the bittersweet moment. Miss USA, Nia Sanchez was the first runner-up in the field of 88 contestants from around the world. Rounding out the top 5 contestants were  Miss Ukraine, Diana Harkusha, who was second runner-up; 20-year-old Miss Netherlands, Yasmin Verheijen, third runner-up and 22-year-old Miss Jamaica, Kaci Fennell.
