Byron Alen settles Charter commnications Lawsuit

Entertainment Studios, owned by Byron Allen and Charter Communications reached a settement agreement in a legal dispute over.racial  discrimination against the black-owned media company.  A joint statement released on Wednesday says that   Allen's company " has resolved and withdrawn the lawsuit against Charter Communications.” Allen Media Group will add its eleventh network, THE WEATHER CHANNEL EN ESPANOL in 2021.

By Mona Austin The Supreme court ruled against Byron Allen in a racial discrimination case against Comcast that gained national attention for its broad implications about Civil Rights. Allen (the owner of Entertainment Studioswas unable to prove that his Television Network was rejected from the cable provider on the basis of race in a $20 billion legal battle that started in 2015. Justice Neil Gorsuch wrote the unanimous decision ruling that Allen did not show that the cable giant would not do business with him "but for" race.  In other words, race had to be the sole reason for Not only did Comcast argue that race was not a factor, but they focused on market compatability instead, which the court found to be reasonable. “We are pleased the Supreme Court unanimously restored certainty on the standard to bring and prove civil rights claims,” Comcast said in a statement. “The well-established framework that has protected civil rights for decades continues. NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF AFRICAN AMERICAN-OWNED MEDIA The day that Byron Allen hoped would never come has come.  On Wednesday, his lawsuit against Comcast had its day in court.  Allen had been in a legal battle having sued the cable distribution giant for $20 billion and won twice in the lower courts in 2018.  The  case, which recently caught the attention of the African American community, made it all the way up to the Supreme Court, but not by Allen's doing.  During his media tour, he explained that after winning he was taken to court.  His opponent took issue with the "just cause" clause in the statute that would require him to prove that the sole reason he was being discriminated against was because of his race 

The DOJ will argue against Byron Allen in Comcast case at the Supreme Court

(The Slice): Byron Allen v. Comcast is headed to the Supreme Court on Nov. 13 with a $20 billion racial bias case and the Trump DOJ is now involved in the action. Allen said Comcast is giving the DOJ 10 minutes to state their views against him before the 9 justices, an action he called "heinous" and "unprecedented." Back in August Allen said, “Donald Trump’s DOJ and Comcast are working together to destroy a civil rights statute in the U.S. Supreme Court.” The 9th Circuit court of appeals ruled in Allen's favor twice with Comcast and Charter. He adds: “You have one of the biggest media companies in the world, which has been beating up Donald Trump for racism, and now they are saying, we will work together to maintain institutionalized racism in America, in this Amicus Brief . . .," according to Deadline.
