Officer who defended the U.S. Capitol on January 6 to run for Congress Former Capitol Police Harry Dunn is looking to return to his old job site in a different capacity -- the Congress. He has announced his candidacy for Maryland's 3rd congressional district. Dunn is one of the officers known for his testimony in the aftermath of the January 6th insurrection. The author of the autobiography, "Standing My Ground" received a Presidential Medal of Freedom and Congressional Gold Medal for his bravery that day. Sgt. Dunn announced his candidacy on the day before the 3rd anniversary of the Jan. 6 riot. The democrat is running to fill the seat left vacant by Rep. John Sarbanes in a district that reaches from Baltimore to Washington D.C.
