Tyscot Records (the oldest operating African American owned and faith-based recording label in the world) kicks off its 50 th year anniversary by celebrating a huge win via its joint venture with PJ Morton’s Gumbo Studios. The Darrel Walls x PJ Morton album, Heart of Mine (Tyscot /Gumbo Studios), earned a Grammy® Award as Best Gospel Album of the Year at the 68 th annual Grammy® Awards ceremony this past Sunday at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, California. It was Morton’s idea to produce an album around Darrel Walls’ voice which has been hailed as one of the most expressive and dynamic instruments in contemporary gospel.
