She becomes the nominee by the smallest margin possible, a one vote difference. Devos now awaits a senate vote to formally confirm her role by a simple majority. The confirmation hearing was intense as one Democrat after the other grilled her with questions intended to show the candidate was incompetent and unqualified for the job.
