RIP: Rocky actor Carl Weathers has died at the age of 76. He played Apollo Creed, Rocky Balboa's rival in 4 installments of the franchise. “We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Carl Weathers,” the family said in a statement, “He died peacefully in his sleep on Thursday, February 1st, 2024. … Carl was an exceptional human being who lived an extraordinary life. Through his contributions to film, television, the arts and sports, he has left an indelible mark and is recognized worldwide and across generations. He was a beloved brother, father, grandfather, partner and friend.” The New Orleans native also had numerous TV roles and starred in Predator, Happy Gilmore, The Mandalorian and Action Jackson. After playing one season for the Oakland Raiders Weathers started his acting career in the 1975 film Bucktown. His memory will live on in Creed, an off-shoot of Rocky that came out in 2023.
