Actor Carl Weathers dies

RIP: Rocky actor Carl Weathers has died at the age of 76. He played Apollo Creed, Rocky Balboa's rival in 4 installments of the franchise. “We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Carl Weathers,” the family said in a statement, “He died peacefully in his sleep on Thursday, February 1st, 2024. … Carl was an exceptional human being who lived an extraordinary life. Through his contributions to film, television, the arts and sports, he has left an indelible mark and is recognized worldwide and across generations. He was a beloved brother, father, grandfather, partner and friend.” The New Orleans native also had numerous TV roles and starred in Predator, Happy Gilmore, The Mandalorian and Action Jackson. After playing one season for the Oakland Raiders Weathers started his acting career in the 1975 film Bucktown. His memory will live on in Creed, an off-shoot of Rocky that came out in 2023. Gospel Soprano LaShun Pace dies at 60, funeral service announced

  Legendary gospel soprano LaShun Pace has died.  The singer had a long battle with kidney disease.  Her sister Lydia confirmed she  passed away on the 11 Alive newscast after multiple organs failed on Monday, March 21.  Pace had  undergone dialysis treatments and had been awaiting a kidney transplant for five years. She also had fought cancer having had a ruptured esophagus and  emergency surgery several years ago. She was 60. Recently the ailing songbird shared in an online video that she was going to get assistance with pain management for  Shingles.  Despite suffering from multiple illnesses the powerhouse vocalist continued to try to uplift others' spirits ministering through a message and songs in online videos.   She shared communion and taught about the power of doing the sacred ritual in what may have  been  her final video. Statement: International opera star Jessye Norman has died

(New York, NY -- September 30, 2019) -- It is with deep sadness and sorrow that we announce the passing of international opera star Jessye Norman , in a statement issued by Norman’s family through the family’s spokesperson, Gwendolyn Quinn. Norman, 74 years old, passed away today, Monday, September 30, 2019, at 7:54 a.m. ET at Mount Sinai St. Luke’s Hospital in New York, NY, where she was surrounded by loved ones. The official cause of death was septic shock and multi-organ failure secondary to complications of a spinal cord injury she had sustained in 2015. RIP Doug Banks, plus funeral arrangements

buzzz worthy. . . Syndicated radio host Doug Banks has passed away.  Banks, 57, died at his Florida home of complications related to diabetes and kidney failure on April 11.  The voice of the Detroit native was recognized all over the country, especially in cities like Philly and Chicago where he made his mark. Well respected by his peers and numerous people in the radio business whose careers he helped launch, the outpouring of grief and condolences online has been tremendous.   Funeral services for Doug Banks will take place today, Saturday, April 16. Starting at 10 a.m., Banks’ services will be held at Sparkman Hillcrest & Memorial Funeral Home, located at 7405 W. Northwest Highway, Dallas, Texas.
