This visit will also highlight the President and his Administration's overall efforts to mark the 50th anniversary of the signing of the Voting Rights Act of 1965. Obama, the first Black President, will deliver remarks at the Edmund Pettus Bridge in Selma standing in the historic shadow of Martin Luther King, Jr. In 2013, Vice President Joe Biden joined ativitst on the bridge to commemorate the 48th anniversary of the march.
