U.S. Government To Issue Warning to Medical Community on Tylenol Use During Pregnancy Over Autism Risk By Mona Austin (White House, Sept. 22, 2025) — The U.S. Food and Drug Administration and Department of Health and Human Services today announced a proposal to change safety labeling on acetaminophen (commonly sold in Tylenol and generic pain killers), advising that pregnant women use the drug as little as possible due to “evidence suggesting a correlation” with an increased risk of neurodevelopmental conditions including autism and attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). The announcement followed statements by President Donald Trump and Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who urged caution in use of the drug during pregnancy and encouraged alternatives.
