The dedication ceremony was held at the Warner Theater in D.C. where people lined up early to purchased the commemorative stamp. The USPS will release 800,000 stamps bearing Ross Rossin's portrait of Angelou and fittingly offers a line associated with Angelou's autobiography, "I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings." The Maya Angelou Forever Stamp reads: "A bird doesn't sing because it has an answer, it sings because it has a song."
