Cummings: “We – the nation, the City of Baltimore, the State of Maryland, and the United States Congress - have all suffered a tremendous loss. As a lifelong advocate for justice, equality, and the truth, Elijah Cummings was the true definition of a leader and his commitment to civility and humanity were invaluable in times such as these. To many, Elijah was a friend and mentor, but to the members of the CBC, Elijah was family.  “Born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland, to sharecroppers from South Carolina, Elijah knew firsthand the challenges of discrimination, segregation, and poverty. Statement: Rep. Elijah Cummings responds to threat of home intrusion that Trump dismissed

Image
By Mona Austin An intruder was stopped in their tracks seeking entry into the home of Rep. Elijah Cummings last Saturday.  Having been alerted by the home security system, Cummings shouted at the individual and they ran off.  The Maryland congressman was unharmed, fortunately. News of the situation began to spread more widely after Pres. Trump brushed off criminal behavior  in a tweet about the incident.  "Too bad," he scoffed. "I was notified of the intrusion by my security system, and I scared the intruder away by yelling before the person gained entry into the residential portion of the house. I thank the Baltimore Police Department for their response and ask that all further inquiries be directed to them.” Really bad news! The Baltimore house of Eli...

The antics of the current President of the United States made a grown man cry on national television. CNNs Victor Blackwell got emotional when recounting tweets in which Pres. Trump insulted the people of his hometown district (7) in Baltimore led by House Oversight Chairman Elijah Cummings (D-MD). Said Pres. Donald Trump: "Cummings district is a disgusting rat and rodent infested mess. . .No human being would want to live there." Searing, Blackwell tried to fight back tears as he defended his hometown. "They are Americans too," he said, just like Trump supporters. This is a recurring theme.  Trump has been on a roll demeaning lawmakers of color as of late. Maxwell noted Trump's history of using the word "infested" in berating socio-economically...
