Damien Sneed Embarks on a 36-City 2019 North American Tour, ‘We Shall Overcome: A Celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’

(New York, NY  – Multi-genre recording artist Damien Sneed embarks on a 36-city North American tour, “ We Shall Overcome: A Celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. ” The Sphinx Medal of Excellence recipient will bring his brand of classical, jazz, and gospel music to concert halls and universities in the U.S. and Canada. The tour kicks off at the Empire Center on Friday, January 11, 2019, at The Egg in Albany, NY, and will conclude on March 3 at the Gallo Center for the Arts in Modesto, CA. This year marks the 35 th Anniversary of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, which was signed into law and made a federal holiday in 1983. Multi-genre recording artist and Sphinx Medal of Excellence recipient Damien Sneed makes his Carnegie Hall conducting debut for Wynton Marsalis’ “Abyssinian 200: A Celebration” on the legendary Ronald O. Perelman Stage on Sunday, April 26. The new offering features WorldStrides’ Heritage Performance National Jazz Choir accompanied by the Jazz at Lincoln Center Youth Orchestra. Participants were selected through a formal application process and invited to experience an opportunity of a lifetime. Over the years, Marsalis has been a mentor and champion for Sneed’s varied music endeavors. He has worked with Marsalis and the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra since his conducting debut at Jazz at Lincoln Center in April 2008. ABYSSINIAN: A GOSPEL CELEBRATION 2013 U.S. TOUR DATES

Led by master jazz trumpeter Wynton Marsalis and choral director Damien Sneed, the national Abyssinian: A Gospel Celebration tour begins in Charlotte, NC on October 8.  The show features Marsalis, the Lincoln Center Orchestra and 70-piece Chorale Le Chateau.  On this unique tour, the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis, Damien Sneed, and Chorale Le Chateau will perform Marsalis' composition  Abyssinian Mass , a landmark collaboration of jazz, gospel, instrumentation, and vocals.
