TUNE-IN ALERT UNSUNG: R&B Singer Glenn Jones (VIDEO)
Like m ost R&B crooners, Glenn Jones got his start in the church. But, unlike most, he was first signed to Savoy Records by the late King of Gospel, the Rev. James Cleveland. His is also one of few artists who can say he shared a duet with two legends. He sang "Ever Changing Times" with the late Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin and "Finder of Lost Loves" with Dione Warwick. He was only 5 when he asked to sing in front of their pentecostal congregation. By the age of 8 he went on tour with a group called the Bivens Specials. From Jacksonville, FLA where he began to Atlanta where he now resides, there were many twists and turns in his career. It is hard to understand how a voice of his quality did not reach the heights of many less capable singers, but he was undeniably one of the strongest male vocalists in 80s era Black music.
