In what is known as the Tulsa Race Riot, leading to the destruction of "Black Wall Street", hundreds were killed and 10,000 Blacks in Tulsa, OK were left homeless. Occurring over 3 days, it was the biggest racial catastrophe in America. Several prosperous Black towns were destroyed by racially motivated violence in Post-Reconstruction era America. For years historians have tried to bring broad-scale attention to the Tulsa tragedy. Now, inspired by HBO's "The Watchman" which focuses on the story -- Oklahoma's schools will incorporate the history of that 1921 massacre into their curriculum this fall. It is ironic that a comic would bring this unfortunate event to light almost a century after it happened.
