National Museum of African American History and Culture Redefines Museum Experience on Second Anniversary The Smithsonian’s National Museum of African American History and Culture kicks off its third year of operation with programming that pioneers the way museums engage and educate the public. The museum begins its third year entering new territory with the Black Architects and Planners Symposium Sept. 27–29 and the first ever Smithsonian African American Film Festival Oct. 24–27 . With these initiatives, the museum shows how African Americans have shaped American life through film, food, architecture, community planning and urban design.
