buzzz worthy. . . On August 2, the production crew faded to black for the last time on "Bobby Jones Gospel" after 35 years on air, making it the longest running program in television history. The occasion was bittersweet, with both joyous and solemn moments evident throughout the taping, as to be expected from a program with which millions of viewers grew up. The popular Sunday morning program was the first show to air on BET, originally premiering in a primetime slot and used as capital to leverage the budding network according to Dr. Jones.
