buzzz worthy. . . #Dangelo D'Angelo and his backing band The Vanguard will perform for one night only at the world famous Apollo Theatre in Harlem on February 7. The Richmond, VA native will headline at the Apollo for the first time since winning the "Amateur Night" competition in 1991 at the age of 16 with his group Michael Archer and Precise. He went on to win three consecutive nights and a cash prize. He used that money to buy recording equipment and began writing songs that would be featured on his 1995 debut “Brown Sugar.” The Apollo date is the only performance lined up in the US before the Grammy winning artist embarks on the "Second Coming" European tour, which begins on his forty-first birthday. D'Angelo's latest album, the critically acclaimed "Black Messiah" debuted last month at #1 on Billboard after a 14 year hiatus.
