In retaliation to her controversial stance on homosexual relations, the Houston based pastor has been the subject of backlash both on and offline. During a New Year Eve service Burrell stated homosexuality is a sin and a perversion. The video of the service went viral and the story made national news headlines in mainstream media. Her career has taken a major hit. First she was dis-invited from performing music from the movie "Hidden Figures" with Pharrell Williams on Ellen. Then her radio show was cancelled. Today, music rights organization BMI joined the chorus of detractors issuing a statement saying Burrell will not take part in the upcoming Trailblazers of Gospel ceremony,essentially ousting her as an honoree.
