Pres. Donald Trump posthumously granted a full pardon to the man the late Muhammad Ali considered the G.O.A.T, Jack Johnson today. Johnson was the first Black heavyweight champion. He defeated numerous White opponents in segregated America. Carefree and unapologetically Black, the decision of an all-White jury landed him in jail for crossing the state line with a White woman or "immoral" purposes. Actor Sylvester Stallone brought Johnson's story to Trump's attention and was present during a White House ceremony today that lifted the chains off of the boxer's memory. Arizona Sen. Joh McCain pushed for Johnson's pardon for many years.
