A coalition of  religious leaders  and  civil rights activists have called for Sunday June 23  to be a national day of prayer and justice for the family and supporters of Trayvon Martin.  “On the eve of the start of the George Zimmerman murder trial. Its important that our nation not be torn apart in what’s expected to be one of the most closely watched trials in our nations history. We don’t want racial tensions to possibly erupt or polarize parts of our nation as we have seen before in trials such as O. J. Simpson and the L.A.P.D. officers who beat motorist Rodney King nearly to death.  The L.A.P.D. officers  subsequent verdicts of being found not guilty by an all White jury touched off the greatest civil unrest in our nations history. We as a nation need to start off and stay united during the course of this trial .And no  matter what the verdict is in the Zimmerman ...

buzzz worthy. . . Six jurors have been selected to decide the fate of George Zimmerman in the murder of Trayvon Martin. They are all women.  None of them are Black. The jurors were chosen out of a pool of hundreds from the local Stanford, Florida area where Trayvon Martin, 17,  was gunned down 16 months ago.  All of their names have been kept confidential and the panel will be sequestered for the trial, according to AP.  T he second-degree murder trial of Zimmerman, the  volunteer  community watchman  who fatally shot Martin , will be underway on Monday, June 24. National outrage in the case escalated as race became a presumed factor in the killing based on profiling. Martin is Black.  Zimmerman identifies as Hispanic.    The judge had restricted the use of racial language and the term racial profiling in the opening statement for  attorneys  form both sides to minimize racial tension.
