"Parasite," a foreign language thriller became the first non-English speaking film ever to win the Best Picture honor. The film also won with Best Director going to South Korea's Bong Joon Ho. Early prediction saw "1917" as the Best Picture favorite since it led at the Golden Globes, Producers Guild, and Directors Guild awards. It had a strong night winning four tech prizes including cinematography and sound mixing. Netflix entered the ceremony with the most nominations (24) but only won two gold statuettes.
