IMPEACHMENT WATCH: The impeachment vote against President Donald J. Trump goes forth today

Image
It is Dec. 18, 2019, the day that will go down as the day that a third president will be impeached in the United Stated. Pres. Donald J. Trump is only the fourth American leader to face impeachment in the history of the country. Pres. Richard Nixon left office before the impeachment charge stuck. The gavel will fall for a presidential impeachment vote by the full House on this historic morning at 9 a.m. Ever since House Speaker Nancy Pelosi reversed the path to impeachment and decided to move forward with an impeachment inquiry on September 24, 2019, the president has said he has done nothing wrong and acted accordingly.  Pelosi received a 6-page letter from a remorseless Trump claiming she is “declaring war on democracy.“ He has submitted the Memo of the Ukraine call as further documented proof of his innocence. Trump  says, “Read the transcript. I did nothing wrong.” An impeachment inquiry in which several members of the Trump Administration testified revealed that by...

Mick Mulvaney still has his job at the White House after Ukraine call gaffe

"I never said there was a quid pro quo cuz (sic) there isn't." (The Slice): Acting White House Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney still has a job after fallout from  an admission of quid pro quo related to the Ukraine phone call scandal. In fact, he said there was quid pro quo and added "get over it" while discussing the normalcy of the government  holding back funds in negotiations. CRITCAL TO CONTEXT ON THIS MATTER:  Congress has emphasized that violation of the law is not contingent upon the  existence of quid pro quo.  The solicitation of interference form a foreign government is breaking the law....

White House Stonewalls Testimony of Ambassador Sondland in Impeachment probe

(The Slice): Ambassador Gordon Sonland, the envoy whose name came up in the Ukriane phone call,  traveled to Washington from Brussels to testify Tuesday morning and was prevented by the State Department.  He was prepared to participate in a closed door deposition.  The White House and State Department had questions about the legal authority of Democrats to issue subpoenas. It was the White House Counsel that Adam Schiff says the White House is obstructing justice along the lines of preventing the Congress from acting as a co-equal branch of government.  The Ambassador has text messages and emails on a personal device that were provided to the State Department which Adam Schiff says are "deeply relevant" to the investigation. A response from the president's Twitter feed this morning plainly  shows their WH strategy is to keep  Sonland's documents and testimony from getting out to the public. . . Donald J. Trump ✔ ...
