Biden Becomes First U.S. President to Visit the Brazilian Rain Forest for Historic International Climate Announcement

  By Mona Austin SUMMARY: President Joe Biden will become the first sitting U.S. President to visit a part of the Amazon Rain Forest in Brazil on Sunday to promote his climate agenda. Climate change is a global issue -- the knowledge of which the United States has influenced with scientific data input and the investment of financial resources throughout the Biden Administration, but the incoming Trump Administration is expected to approach climate in a more laissez-faire fashion. Today, Pres. Biden will punctuate his commitment to climate with the Amazon Rain Forest in Manua, Brazil as the backdrop. Nearly the size of Australia, the world's largest tropical forest and river system is the leading sources of the carbon dioxide supply and green house gas which has significantly dwindled due to deforestation.   MAJOR FIRES OUT WEST The American West is burning. Blazing a path of destruction, numerous families are evacuating to safety and a new beginning, pushed out by the natural disasters that are becoming increasingly more difficult to surmount. California is being scorched by the worst fires on record. Massive fires have also broken out in Washington State and Colorado and fanned out to the usually cooler, wetter Northwest. According to the Associated press "because of its cool, wet climate, the Pacific Northwest rarely experiences such intense fire activity. "In Oregon Gov. Kate Brown said communities have been “substantially destroyed” and warned there could be numerous fatalities. Climate change is the arsonist. Human actions also play a part.
