Martin signed the group after they had been rejected by many others. Producing the sound of the British Invasion, he released 13 albums with The Beatles. Martin was 90. A mournful Paul McCartney said of his friend, "The word has lost a truly great man." The Recording Academy had this t say in a statement: We are very saddened to learn about the passing of six-time GRAMMY ® Award winner and Trustees Award recipient Sir George Martin.
