TRUMP ACQUITTED - IMPEACHMENT FINALLY OVER

By Mona Austin

Pres. Donald Trump was acquitted of two articles of impeachment on Wednesday afternoon by the U.S. Senate, bring the historic trial to an end. The vote was divided along party lines with the exception of former presidential candidate, Mitt Romney.

Romney became the first U.S. Senator to vote against a president from the same party.   In an emotional speech about his decision Romney revealed he acted on his religion conviction to keep his oath to God. " My faith is who I am," he said, making it clear that he wanted Trump to be  removed from office.  However, Romney only voted on Article I, Abuse of Power.  On Article II  he said he did not believe the evidence was sufficient to show Trump obstructed Congress.

Romney said he knew he would be the target of attacks from the Right and possibly ostracized completely.  Pres. Trump was among those who lashed out against him on Twitter, calling for theUtah politician to be ousted from the  GOP for his vote against him.
President Trump is calling for Romney to be ousted from the GOP for his decision.

This was an expected outcome from the beginning.  House Democrats faced a partisan wall all along, but went on a quest to preserve Democracy and collective felt this was not a real trial due to the lack of cooperation on the request for witnesses and documents.
