Vaccine mandates are working, but. . .
Click here ot read an NC-Based Novant Health Fires More Than 100 Unvaccinated Employees ah an article regarding a large sum of medical employees being fired for refusing a vaccination. This story is proof that some medical professional would rather lose thier jobs than get vaccinated. But, some would not.
Someone shared the story with me about a Duke-educated nurse who has a medical limitation that prevents her from getting vacinated. She had worked as a nurse for over 20 years, loves her profession and was a frontline worker during the pandemic until the mandates took effect. If she is vaccinated, she has been informed that her pre-existing condition could be fatally compromised. She did not want to lose or leave her job. In this instance asking someone to get vaccinated is a life or death choice. Currently the mandate is black and white -- either get vaccinated or lose your job. Many Americans with pre-existing conditions that could be worsened by the shot see this as unfair.
On the other hand, the numbers indicate that the vaccine mandate is working. More people complied with the policy than those who were fired. Since Presl Joe Biden required that Buisnesses with more than 100 people require vaccination. People are motivated to get the shot so tha they don't lose their jobs. Yet, some are willing to lose their job and may contribute to the unemployment problem. The effort to resolve one porblem could potentially create another one.
