Biden-Harris make Roe V. Wade a 2024 ballot issue on Manassas campaign stop
(TSN- MANASSAS): Pres. Joe Biden was joined by Vice President Kamala Harris, First Lady Dr. Jill Biden, and Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff at the Hylton Performing Arts Center on the campus of George Mason University in Manassas, VA on 1/23/24 to centralize abortion in his campaign for re-election. It was the first time the couples made a joint appearance on the campaign trial this year.
Recognizing that women carried him to a victory the first time, Biden said his likely rival Donald Trump "will find out" that women will show up to vote for reproductive freedom.
The event was held one day after Vice Pres. Harris kicked off a reproductive freedom tour in Wisconsin on the 51st anniversary of Roe v. Wade. Restoring the reversed abortion legislation has become a number one campaign priority. Should the Congress approve a federal ban on abortion he will veto it he said.
The leaders and their spouses all spoke out against abortion restrictions emphasizing it is a healthcare issue.
A Texas woman, Amanda Zurawski who spoke at the event also, was not seeking an abortion when an emergency called for one. She had gotten pregnant through invitro and her water broke in the second trimester. She went into septic shock and almost died after being refused a medically necessary abortion. Her testimony meshed with the Biden team's healthcare being an aspect of an abortion being justified.
Pres. Biden directly blamed Donald Trump for the overturning of Roe v. Wade, noting he had appointed conservative judges to ensure it happened. If Congress ever passes a federal ban on abortion, Biden vowed that he would veto it.
