Biden Assures Hill Democrats and Governors He's Still Running, But Needs More Sleep

By Mona Austin
(TSN): President Joe Biden spoke to a group of governors in person and virtually to reassure them he is equipped for the job but needs more rest. He admitted he has been fatigued and will be getting more sleep. After being criticized for a low-energy performance and the ensuing debate fallout a week ago the 81-year-old leader says he is ending his workday at 8 PM.
Vice Pres. Kamala Harris joined him on the call saying that she is fully in support of the decision, which will increase her workload. The adjustment would be practice for Harris should they win re-election and she is required to step up as his replacement in the future.
The consensus among governors has been generally affirming toward Biden continuing on yet some have raised concerns in a separate governor-only call and in interviews. The New York Time reported that could hurt her chances for re-election.
As a part of post-debate crisis management Mr. Biden also spoke to Hill Democrats. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, Leader Hakeem Jeffries, Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi and others heard directly about his status also telling them he is not dropping out of the race. However, he has acknowledged that he knows if he does not quickly convince voters that he is capable of leading his re-election chances won't be salvagable.
Kevin Munoz, a spokesperson for the Biden campaign, said of the president’s comments about more sleep and less late work: “President Bush went to bed at 9, and President Obama made dinner at 6:30. Normal presidents strike a balance, and so does Joe Biden. Hardly the same rigor as Donald Trump, who spends half of his day ranting on Truth Social about plans that would cause a recession and other half golfing.”
