(TSN): A Nebraska Senator's spouse is facing criticism for refusing to shake Vice President Kamala Harris' hand during a swear in.  Bruce Fischer held the Bible that  his wife Sen. Deb Fischer placed her hand on as she took an oath of service.  The VP extended her hand to Mr. Fischer after she shook the senator's hand saying, "Congrarulations." He said, "Thank you," but refused to touch her creating an awkward moment at an official ceremonious event.

The dynamics here are intriguing...

On January 6, 2025, Vice President Harris had the difficult job of certifying election results from a race she lost against Republican Donald Trump. Harris is the highest ranking woman in the  government as the co-leader in the nation. Jerself a fomer California Senator, she is the first women in history to rise to this rank.

Sen.  Fischer represented the Republican Party as a teller for the official counting of the electoral college votes in Congress.

She was seen reading out the talies for each state along with three other colleagues. She is also a senior member of a subcommittee if  the Armed Services Committee that oversees issues related  to Doace Command and U.S. Strategic Command. When her husband displayed a lack of civility and  disrespected Harris she did not flinch, but quickly departed. Although she may have been embarrassed by the offensive actions in the moment, since the ordeal the senator has not addressed the situation with an explanation or apology.

Mr. FIscher is a college professor at the University of Nebraska.

Standing behind the couple is their son.
