(TSN): A comment Vice Pres. JD Vance posted on BlueSky about the need for t BLM to give Pres. Donakd Trump credit or his recent embrace of Adrican countries.
Vance’s assertion that Trump has done more for Black lives than any other leader is highly controversial, given Trump’s historical stance on BLM. Trump has previously called BLM a “symbol of hate” and referred to its supporters as “thugs,” notably deploying the National Guard to suppress protests in Washington, D.C., following George Floyd’s killing in 2020. These actions contrast sharply with Vance’s claim, as they were widely criticized for escalating tensions rather than addressing systemic issues raised by BLM.
While others strongly opposed his framing, accusing the administration of racism and dismissing the claim as political posturing. For¡ example, posts on X ranged from supportive sentiments (e.g., @DetectiveJake1 sharing an American Thinker article endorsing Vance’s view) to vehement rejections (e.g., @selle3677’s derogatory response). These reactions highlight the divisive nature of Vance’s statement, particularly given Trump’s past rhetoric on BLM.
