SEPTEMBER 30, 2021 • PRESIDENTIAL ACTIONS In a proclamation Pres. Joe Biden acknowledges America's progress in assisting disabled American and the continued need for improvement. He proclaimed the month of October as National Disability Awareness Mount. More than 60 millions Americans are disabled. On July 31 speaking form the White House Rose Garden at an event recognizing the 31st Anniversary of the Amreican's with Disabiliteis Act, " He recalled a time when laws to supoort the disabled did not exist. Said the president, "M any of us can still recall an America where a person with a disability was denied service in restaurants and grocery stores, and could be; where a person using a wheelchair couldn’t ride on a train or take a bus to work or to school; where an employer could refuse to hire you because of a disability.
