By Mona Austin An intruder was stopped in their tracks seeking entry into the home of Rep. Elijah Cummings last Saturday. Having been alerted by the home security system, Cummings shouted at the individual and they ran off. The Maryland congressman was unharmed, fortunately. News of the situation began to spread more widely after Pres. Trump brushed off criminal behavior in a tweet about the incident. "Too bad," he scoffed. Cummings addressed the incident in a statement released to the Baltimore Sun: “An individual attempted to gain entry into my residence at approximately 3:40 AM on Saturday, July 27," the statement said. "I was notified of the intrusion by my security system, and I scared the intruder away by yelling before the person gained entry into the residential portion of the house.
