After worrying about her 20-year-old son, Marcel following multiple incidents of racial profiling in Southern California, she decided to transfer him across the country to her alma mater, Howard University, a historically Black college located in Washington, DC. In an excerpt from an article in the February/March issue of Uptown Magazine Henson explains why she made the choice: My child has been racially profiled. He was in Glendale, California and did exactly everything the cops told him to do, including letting them illegally search his car. It was bogus because they didn’t give him the ticket for what he was pulled over for."
