Featured Events to Focus on the Past, Present and Future of Black Cinema

LOS ANGELES, CA (January 19, 2011)  - The Blackhouse Foundation congratulates and applauds the 2011 Sundance Film Festival on the inclusion of 31 documentaries, narrative features, and short films featuring diverse stories that include African and African American talent and/or directors in this year's line-up.  We are proud to announce that January 21-23, 2011, Blackhouse will return to Main Street in Park City to continue to promote diversity on the screens and in the streets of Sundance.
The Blackhouse Foundation celebrates its 5th anniversary collaborating with the festival this year.  "Sundance is more than just a Festival; it is a community of artists whose impact is felt worldwide. We are proud to witness more visibility for Black filmmakers on the screen, in the labs, and on the streets of Sundance," stated Blackhouse Chairman Brickson Diamond.
As an official Institute Associate of the 2011 Sundance Film Festival, The Blackhouse is gratified by the realization of its goal to increase diversity at Sundance.  However, the work is hardly done. Blackhouse will mark this year's landmark achievement by continuing its tradition of creating a space for its diverse constituents to convene for thought-provoking workshops, powerhouse networking, recognition of the films in the festival, and the opportunity to carve out new frontiers for Blacks in independent film.
This year, Blackhouse will be hosting events at Buona Vita Restaurant at 804 Main Street, Park City, Utah starting on Friday, January 21, 2011 and concluding on Sunday, January 23, 2011
The Blackhouse Foundation continues in its efforts to encourage diversity of programming and to increase attendance of African-American and diverse filmmakers at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival.
