2014 Tony Awards Nominations List

Nominations in 26 competitive categories for the American Theatre Wing’s 68th Annual Antoinette Perry “Tony” Awards® were announced today by actress of stage and screen Lucy Liu and Tony-nominee Jonathan Groff, at the Tony Award Nominations ceremony sponsored by IBM. The nominees were selected by an independent committee of 33 theatre professionals appointed by the Tony Awards Administration Committee.

 The 2014 Tony Awards are presented by The Broadway League and the American Theatre Wing. (The list of nominations follows.) Marking 68 years of excellence on Broadway, The Tony Awards will be broadcast live from Radio City Music Hall on CBS, on Sunday, June 8th, 8:00 – 11:00 p.m. (ET/PT time delay). Legitimate theatrical productions opening in any of the 40 eligible Broadway theatres during the current season may be considered for Tony nominations. The 2013/2014 eligibility season began April 26, 2013 and ended April 24, 2014.

 The Tony Awards will be voted in 26 competitive categories by 860 members of the theatrical community. As previously announced, the 2014 Special Tony Award for Lifetime Achievement in the Theatre will be presented to costume designer Jane Greenwood and the Isabelle Stevenson Award will be presented to Rosie O’Donnell. The 2014 Tony Honors for Excellence in the Theatre will be presented to President and CEO of The Actor’s Fund Joseph P. Benincasa, photographer Joan Marcus and General Manager Charlotte Wilcox.

 Each year, the Tony Awards Administration Committee presents a Tony Award to a regional theatre on the recommendation of the American Theatre Critics Association. The 2014 Regional Theatre Award will be presented to the Signature Theatre of New York.  The Antoinette Perry “Tony” Awards are bestowed annually on theatre professionals for distinguished achievement. The Tony is one of the most coveted awards in the entertainment industry and the annual telecast is considered one of the most prestigious programs on television. The 2014 American Theatre Wing’s Tony Awards are presented by The Broadway League and the American Theatre Wing. NEWLYWEDS: Bishop Marvin Winans weds after 30 years

  By Mona Austin One of the most eligible bacherlors in Christianity has tied the knot - Marvin Winans remarries After being single for almost 30 years, legendary gospel singer and Bishop Marvin L. Winans, Sr. has wed his long time girlfriend Deneen R. Carter. Carter is a 57-year-old physical therapist and minister at Perfecting Church in Detroit, founded by Winans. Little is known about the bride publicly. The gospel legend introduced the now Mrs. Winans as his fiance to the congregants of Perfecting in October of 2021. The couple had been in a relationship for 15 years. Pastor Winans was previously married to fellow gospel singer Vicki Winans (with whom he has two sons) for 16 years before they divorced in 1995.
