PWC high school student wins national title in pageant

buzzz worthy. . .
Aria Austin, a 15-year-old vocalist from Bristow, VA is the newly crowned National Teen Talent winner of the East Coast USA beauty pageant. Austin studies vocal music at the Woodbridge School of the Creative and Fine Performing Arts and aspires to sing professionally.
She won over judges with an impassioned rendering of "Listen" from the Broadway musical "Dreamgirls."

In Whippany, NJ on July 26 she also placed second runner up in the Young Miss Division, competing against  11 other contestants from around the country.

Additionally, the Bristow resident's neck was adorned with two medals as she took home optional wins in her age group for runway and interview.

Wearing a soft pink strapless gown with a multi-ruffled mermaid tail, Aria walked onto the pageant stage with little experience.  This pageant was the second time Aria participated in a beauty pageant after becoming Young Miss Southern at the regional level in the same pageant system this Spring in Maryland.

"I entered the pageant to help develop the people and pubic speaking skills I will need in the future," she said.

In her introduction Aria spoke of enjoying baking sweet treats and assisting with her sister Amber's Girls Scout troop. During the interview, in answering a question about what she looks for in a friend, Aria said she believes in demonstrating genuine kindness that leads to long lasting relationships.

Her parents William Austin, II, a former Major in the U.S. Air Force and Mona Austin, multimedia journalist and owner of Jireh Communications Group looked on dotingly as their oldest child was crowned.  "We are pleased that Aria had a chance to share her gift and get recognized for it.  It's an honor."

Austin's other areas of interest include acting, dancing, photography and writing. Locally, Aria starred as young Sassy in the CAPAC production of Debbie Allen's "Dancing In the Wings" and dances as Showcase Dance Studio in Manassas, VA.

In the future Aria plans to pursue a degree in music at Juilliard.

Miss Austin is available for appearances and speaking engagements to address  topics such as how to handle peer pressure and bullying at community events. Email mona@jirehcreative.com for more information.
