PHIL takes an in-depth look at the current racial tension in America, from the events surrounding the deaths of Michael Brown to Tamir Rice to Eric Garner at the hands of law enforcement, and explores why our nation is in turmoil.  Joining the wide-ranging discussion are: Roland Martin (TV One's, "News One Now") host, Ellisha Flagg and Erica Garner, (sister and daughter of Eric Garner), Lesley McSpadden, (mother of Michael Brown), New Orleans Saints player Benjamin Watson, Sybrina Fulton (mother of Trayvon Martin), Mike Brooks, (former Washington D.C. detective), and CNN's Sunny Hostin. Taking the conversation beyond what we've seen on the news, Dr. Phil speaks with the families of Garner, Brown and Martin to hear their perspectives on the events they believe took the lives of their loved ones, and get their viewpoint on what they think can be done to affect change. Also, NFL star Benjamin Watson explains why he was so moved to write an eloquent Facebook essay after the verdict in Ferguson that went viral.

Winans, Sr. has wed his long time girlfriend Deneen R. Carter. Carter is a 57-year-old physical therapist and minister at Perfecting Church in Detroit, founded by Winans. Little is known about the bride publicly. The gospel legend introduced the now Mrs. Winans as his fiance to the congregants of Perfecting in October of 2021.
