Bishop Corletta Vaughn of Preachers of Detroit discusses challenges as a preacher on Access Hollywood; pens book

buzzz worthy. . .

Bishop Corletta Vaughn, star of "Preachers of Detroit" discusses the "fear" have having women in church leadership.  Like homosexuality, she says, women in church leadership. there must be dialogue.  A Bishop of 20 years, Vaughn admits she is often snubbed by men who can not get used to her role, but she isn't going anywhere. Watch her interview below. Vaughn has also penned a book, "Teach Your Daughters to Fly," focusing  on the story of "Fly Away Home" and how it parallels the idea of having a healthy father-daughter relationship.

Dr. Corletta Vaughn is a Christian counselor as well as a Senior Pastor and has been a trailblazer for women in ministry for more than 35 years. A Bishop in the West African country of Nigeria, she has spent many years spreading the Gospel and working with women in various capacities to empower them to live full and productive Christian lives. Her new book, Teach Your Daughters To Fly, will be released by Next Century Publishing in early 2015.

As seen on the web at http://www.gotellit.org, Dr. Vaughn has spent several years counseling women and men and often hears the same types of stories repeated. She began to wonder about how a person's relationship with his or her father might cause the types of pain and struggle that she saw so frequently. Dr. Vaughn concluded that many adults struggle because fathering was not appropriate in their cases.

After seeing “Fly Away Home,” she realized that the story of Amy being reunited with her father and adopting geese paralleled the discoveries she had made. Coining the term "Father-Hunger," Dr. Vaughn teaches how the right fathering skills can build strong women. “This book is disruptive and in your face truth about what happens to women who have had little to no relationship with their Dad," says Dr. Vaughan.

Dr. Vaughn's new book will bring the story line of "Fly Away Home" together with her real-life experiences drawn from her years as a counselor. With her love for others and her desire to support them as they overcome life's obstacles, Dr. Vaughn's book serves as a reminder that strong fathers ultimately create strong women.
