Matt Maher releases his fifth album, 'Saints and Sinners'

buzzz worthy. . .

Multi-GRAMMY® nominee and acclaimed songwriter Matt Maher released his fifth studio album, with Essential Records/Provident Label Group, Saints And Sinners. Also available today is a digital-only deluxe edition that features five bonus tracks, two additional live cuts and an exclusive unplugged version of “Because He Lives (Amen).” The album’s first single, “Because He Lives (Amen),” is in the Top 5 at radio, currently sitting at No. 4 on the National Christian Audience Chart and No. 6 on the AC Monitored Chart.

The songs for Saints And Sinners organically began to develop as Maher experienced a time of personal transition and went in search of inspiration. “I found myself in a real place of unknowing,” he shares. “So I naturally started gravitating toward writings and quotes from people having experienced the tension between certainty and mystery.”

Inspired by leaders of faith who left profound marks on Christianity, Saints And Sinners boasts a collection of cuts highlighting influencers such as Martin Luther King and Mother Teresa. “All the songs on the record are based on quotes, prayers, scriptures and characters throughout the history of the church that have been a prophetic voice,” the artist explains. “It’s good to look at their lives in the context of our own, because it gives us permission to ask questions along our journey.”

Co-produced by Maher and longtime friend and collaborator Paul Moak (Third Day, Mat Kearney), Maher also brought together a host of talented songwriters among who were Thad Cockrell (Leagues), Jon foreman (Switchfoot), Bo and Bear Rinehart (NEEDTOBREATHE), Jason Ingram and several others for Saints And Sinners.

Maher is currently performing on the Rock & Worship Roadshow, also featuring MercyMe, Crowder, Jamie Grace and more. This spring he will headline a tour in support of Saints And Sinners with special guests and label mates I Am They and Jon Guerra.
