Allegedly, millions of dollars have been raised online for the defense of Dylan Rooth, the South Carolina man who confessed to killing the "Emanuel 9."
Who is going to raise money to free Bree Newsome? She's going to need it should she go to trial for performing a daring act in South Carolina that will also go down in the annals of history.
Early Saturday morning, just as the sun was breaking (June 27) Newsome scaled the flagpole at the South Carolina State Capital to pull down the confederate flag as Tyson stood by as a watchman.
"In the name of Jesus this flag has to come down," the activist from Charlotte, NC yelled as an officer from the South Carolina Bureau of Protective Services threatened to use a taser.
"You come against me with hate, prejudice and violence. I come against you in the name of God!," were her words as she dismounted the flag with the relic of America's racist past in hand.
Newsome elaborated on the cause of her actions in an email statement that was released to the media.
"We removed the flag today because we can't wait any longer. We can't continue like this another day," it said. "It's time for a new chapter where we are sincere about dismantling white supremacy and building toward true racial justice and equality."
Newsome and James Ian Tyson (both 30 years old and from Charlotte) were arrested, but released from jail Saturday after posting $5,000 bond.
Indiegogo, the "Bail for Bree Newsome" fund had raised just over $77,000 in nine hours to help cover Newsome's legal expenses.
According to the Associated Press Sherri Iacobelli, a spokeswoman for the state Department of Public Safety, said Newsome and James Ian Tyson, 30, also of Charlotte, have been charged with defacing monuments on state Capitol grounds. That's a misdemeanor that carries a fine of up to $5,000 and a prison term of up to three years or both.

Days before Newsome's heroic climb Shaun King offered a reward of $10,000 to whomever would remove it. King later tweeted Newsome did not remove the flag for money but he had been contacted to post bail.
South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley called for the removal of the flag ahead of the funeral of State Sen. Clementa Pinckney, who was killed with 8 others at the Mother Emanuel AME Church in Charleston. Haley indicated the flag remains due to legal reasons. Under the South Carolina Heritage Act, the removal of the flag is subject to a two-thirds vote by South Carolina legislators.
Pinckney's body laid in state at the state house as the rebel flag wave high outside. Request to have the flag removed during his funeral service were not honored, bringing a sense of disgrace to an otherwise distinguished occasion.
