DNC Chair Deb Wasserman Schultzs resigns over email hack scandal; Hillary Clinton's statement

buzzz worthy. . .
By Mona Austin

At the top of DNC Convention week, DNC Chairperson Deb Wasserman Shultz resigned on Sunday.  Unable to get a handle on leaked emails of party leaders, she bowed to pressure to leave. Senator Bernie Sanders and his supporters for months called for her resignation after an  email hack revealed Shultz and many party leaders had  a bias in favor of his then opponent, Hillary Clinton.  Shultz,a Florida Democrat said in a statement she will finish her tenure at the end of the convention. However, due to opposition at the breakfast of the Florida delegation this morning and from others within the party her job is over.

This will not be the end of Shultz.  Hillary Clinton has offered Shultz the role of honorary campaign chair per various reports.  Clinton pledged her continued support to her "long-time friend" in the following statement:

“I want to thank my longtime friend Debbie Wasserman Schultz for her leadership of the Democratic National Committee over the past five years. I am grateful to Debbie for getting the Democratic Party to this year’s historic convention in Philadelphia, and I know that this week’s events will be a success thanks to her hard work and leadership. There’s simply no one better at taking the fight to the Republicans than Debbie–which is why I am glad that she has agreed to serve as honorary chair of my campaign’s 50-state program to gain ground and elect Democrats in every part of the country, and will continue to serve as a surrogate for my campaign nationally, in Florida, and in other key states. I look forward to campaigning with Debbie in Florida and helping her in her re-election bid–because as President, I will need fighters like Debbie in Congress who are ready on day one to get to work for the American people.”

The emails were leaked from a Russia Hack.  Donald Trump has defended Vladmir Putin saying he is not responsible for the security breach, contradicting the FBI. Trump has heavy business ties to Russia.

The highest post in the democratic party was transferred to  Rep. Marcia Fudge (D-Ohio).   Donna Brazile, currently the DNC’s vice chair, was interim chair.
