Google introduces 'GodComplx' web series on October 28

buzzz worthy. . .

(LOS ANGELES) - October 20, 2016 - Diversity in Hollywood. Everyone's talking about it.The creators of GodComplX managed to achieve it - thanks to an initiative by GoogleYouTube Space LAand the determination of a Hollywood vet committed to breaking barriers in front of and behind the camera.

GodComplX is a 10-episode web series funded by Google's Computer Science Education in Media Team (CS in Media) - an initiative designed to promote female and underrepresented minorities to not only use technology, but to create it. GodComplX is a digital way to shine a light on the vast opportunities in computer science and other STEAM-related fields to a global audience while also promoting great storytelling and filmmaking.

The series was developed and executively produced by Claire Brown (EP of Being Mary Jane and The Game) and follows a 20-something Black female coder who moves in with a group of like-minded tech geniuses who live in LA's Silicon Beach.

Daraiha Greene, Google
CS in Media's Diversity in Entertainment Ambassador andGodComplX project lead, Daraiha Greene, states, "Our researchshows that
that stereotypical images of people in computer science and other technical fields can negatively influence the likelihood that girls and minoritized groups imagine themselves engaging in those fields. I'm so proud of what we created with GodComplXbecause it mirrors the reality of our world. Our hope is to encourage even more diversity in CS because if you can see it, you can be it."

In producing the series, Brown and co-creator, Joe Sicora, looked to further Google's initiative by not only casting a diverse ensemble of talented actors, but by hiring a diverse and talented production crew. Brown pulled together a team of seasoned Hollywood professionals and up-and-coming talent to create her production team.

The series had women in the key positions of Director (Morenike Joela), Director of Photography (Chelsea Pettit), Producer (Beth TajisanNakisha Celistan), Camera Operator (Keke Dexter), Writer (Rasheena NashErin Andrews), and 2nd Assistant Director (Gabi Shabazz). An impressive staff of 95% women and people of color.

"One of the great things about this project was that it gave me an opportunity to say 'Yes' and to give talented people in this industry who are often told 'No' the chance to shine," said Brown.

The series stars YouTube sensation, Shameless Maya (Maya Washington), who leads an ensemble of talented actors on the rise including Nick MossJoshua Michael MooreShayna SpielsCaleb Hwangbo and Priscilla Bawicia

GodComplX premieres on November 1, 2016 at 5 pm PST/8 pm EST on the show's YouTube Channelwww.youtube.com/godcomplx. Followers of the series' social media platforms (@GodComplxSeries) can enter a contest to win 2 tickets to the red carpet premiere and a meet-and-greet with the cast at Google's Venice campus on Friday, October 28th.
