buzzz worthy. . .

By Mona Austin

Prince Post homulously won the Top Soundtrack song for the 1984 album Purple Rain at the American Music Awards Sunday night. He had already won an AMA for the album during the year of its release.

"Until we see you again, we'll keep this at Paisley Park. This is for you," said his sister, Tyka Nelson accepting on behalf of the family.

Prince became eligible for the second win when re-entered the charts this year when album sales wet up around the time of his unexpected death. The surprise win became one for the highlights of the show.

The was nver a dull moment from the time Bruno Mars and his Holligans opened the program with a crowd pleasingly sharp dance routine to 24k. It was a huge night for Justi Bieber who won 4 AMAs and Drake who came inot the night with the ost nominations, took home 3. Gigi Hadid, co-host, got the crown chuckling with her inner comedian with an imitation of future FLOTUS Melania Trump's RNC speech.

But the Prince win was not the only surprise. Aria Grande bested Beyonce, Drake and Carrie Underwood in the Artist of the Year category. Best Female Artist Pop/Rock went to Selena Gomez who fans preferred to Adele and Rihanna. Gomez, who sufferes form Lupus, took herself off the music scene in 2016 to tend to her health. During her acceptance, speech she shared her heartfelf thoguths about her authentic self: "If you are broken you do not have to stay broken," she added after thanking her fans. "If that's anything whether you respect me or not that's one thing you should know about me. I care about people."  Gomez added that she does not wat to keep seeing people's bodies on Instagram.  Pointing to her heart she said, "I want to see what's in here."
