2018 GRAMMY WINNERS LIST AND THE REASONS NOT FORGET TO GIVE CREDIT WHERE IT IS DUE

Whether it was Hillary Clinton throwing shade at Pres. Trump by reading from the controversial book 'Fire and Fury,' Blu Ivy Carter gesturing to hush her parents, former stripper Cardi B, celebrating her breakout year in the music industry with a Grammy performance in her hometown, Sir Elton John playing live in his unique fashion or Jay Z, the most nominated artist walking away with no wins, The 60th Annual Grammy Awards provided viewers months of hot topics.

It was a great evening to be Bruno Mars, who had a clean sweep, bagging wins in all 6 of the areas in which he was nominated -- Best Song and Record of the Year and Album of the Year.

Alessia Cara  deserves to be lauded for being named New Artist of the Year. But there are lots of nominees and winners who are forgotten because they are not announced during the telecast.

Let's not forget the many other genres of music honored at the Grammys, such as Gospel and Contemporary Christian.  Winans' back story is a prime example of why she should be a hot topic too.

In fact, both artists united generations with their accomplishments.

Being recognized for excellent work is a part of some artists' DNA.  Over the age of 50 and a member of the legendary Winans family, CeCe Winans won a couple of Grammys for her "Let Them Fall In Love" solo album, a special one because it was fully produced by her son Alvin Love, III.  She was uneasy to work with Alvin, Jr. at first and knew she was taking a risk with a lesser experienced creator she told me last year, but she took that leap of faith the album was a win for her entire family.

Said Winans after winning,Let Them Fall in Love is my best project ever!  I am humbled and honored for two Grammy wins!  Thank you to the visionary, Alvin Love III and everyone who made this project what it is.  Also, thank you to NARAS and my prayer is that the world will hear this music and Fall In Love!”

Let us also remember age ain't nothing but a number when it comes to quality entertainment.  Good music is good music as music sampling has proven.  But there is sampling and then there is style.  The trend in music is to present either timeless or modern messages dressed in  an older style.  Like Bruno Mars, the "Let Them Fall and Love" album borrowed sounds and styles from the fifties.  Mars borrowed from the eighties.

Alvin won his first as a co-producer and Mrs. Winans increased her Grammy count to 12 having won two-for-two as a solo act this year with wins for Best Gospel Album and Best Gospel Performance for "Never Have to Be Alone".

Congratulations to all of the winners of the 2018 Grammy Awards.  We are offering a fuller list of winners than what was announced on air.
