Mueller probe is over, search for collusion is not under Schiff's leadership

By Mona Austin

The two-year investigation conducted by Special Council Robert Mueller concluded last Friday, but for Democrats the search for the truth has only just begun.  The Mueller report found there was no collusion on the part of Pres. Trump related to Russia's inteference in the 2016 election.

Pres. Trump is declaring victory over what he calls a witch hunt, tweeting: "No collusion, no obstruction. Complete and total exoneration. Keep America Great."  In the report, Mueller did not spell out that the president is exonerated, leaving room for interpretation.

Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee Adam Schiff (D-CA) contradicted Mueller's findings saying he believes there is evidence of collusion and along with all members of the House said the report should be released.   Trump appointed Attorney General William Barr provided a 4-page summary of the 400-page Mueller Report, which Democrats say is a one-sided assessment.  Schiff said it was a "summary non-summary" on the Rachel Maddox show because a summary of the findings was included in the Mueller Report itself.  "The most problematic part [of the summary non-summary] was the suggestion that because Bob Mueller chose to make a decision on indictment on obstruction of justice that somehow he was compelled to.  That was the flimsiest part of the memo," he noted.

Detaching from his Republican colleagues who have called for his resignation, Barr exclaimed in a heated session It is corrupt, unethical, immoral and Schiff says and it there is evidence of collusion.  Going against Mueller's conclusions is a striking deviation

Barr is agree to provide a redacted version of the report by mid April.  Schiff has requested the full non-redacted version of the report is released by April 2.  If the Department of Justice does not cooperate, Congress might issue a subpoena for it.

Democrats are pursuing an obstruction of kustice claim and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi concurs that is it necessary to release the report.
