A hero emerged in the Capitol riot and lawmakers rightfully will honor him with the Congressional Gold Medal

People who know Eugene Goodman say he is not th type of person who would want accolades or attention for doing his job.  Whether  you know him or not, you'll likely agree that he is a hero who deserves recognition for literally warding off a potential massacre.  Members of Congress have hailed him as a hero for saving thier livbes during the Capitol insurrection. For exhibiting courage under fire, lawmakers want to present the Congressioanl Gold Medal to Mr.Goodman, a true American hero.  Here's why . . .

Last Wednesday, when a mob of pro-Trump  rioters breached security and entered the U.S, Capitol as members of Congress were voting to certify electoral college votes, Woods, a lone Black man risked his life. A journalist's video that  captured in a stand off in the hallway of thee Capitiol showed Woods  putting his life on the line went viral. (Black Capitol police have reported they they especially felt they were the targets during the uprising moresoe that their white counterparts.) 

As the mob came fae-to-face with him, the Army vet raised his baton and pushed the person in the front fo the crowd back.  He tried to talk them out of advanceing further.  He worked steadily and calmly to keep the vicious crowd from entering the nearby Senate chamber where a group of Congress people were being evacuated to safety.  Seemingly, once he knew the leaders were cleared from the area, with the shouting mob on his heels he began to run in the opposite direction of where they could reach their targets.  Finally, he was joined by back up law enforecement that he was seen calling momnets earler. In those crucial moments he managed to control a situation that could have ended in many more casualities.
