Tyler-Perry will crank out a range of films in new multi-year partnership deal with Netflix as his film galaxy continues to expand

(TSN): Tyler Perry is cranking out a remarkable range of cinema for Netflix and Amazon. Despite not being able to secure the purchase of BET in what he called a "disrespectful" deal, the multi-hyphenate is at the top of his game.
Perry has signed another 8-film expanded agreement with Netflix to write produce and direct feature films for the streamer.
He was already working on the highly anticipated film "Six Triple Eight”, the real-life story of the only all-Black woman 6888th battalion that saved and optimized mail delivery during World War II.
Headed up by Kerry Washington, the cast of the overseas war drama also includes Ebony Obsidian, Milauna Jackson, Pepi Sonuga, Sarah Jeffery, Shanice Shantay, Jay Reeves, Dean Norris, Sam Waterston, Kylie Jefferson, Jeanté Godlock, Moriah Brown, Oprah Winfrey and Susan Sarandon.
Now The Slice reported the announcement about the period film earlier this year but the release date for "Six Triple Eight" remains TBA.
Perry also delivered the new legal drama "Mea Culpa," starring Kelly Rowland as a defense attorney. She also has co-producing credit on the film. Her character is defending an artist who may have killed his girlfriend. "Mea Culpa," Perry's fifth project with Netflix, also stars Trevante Rhodes (Bruiser, Bird Box), Sean Sagar (The Gentlemen), Nick Sagar (The Princess Switch) and RonReaco Lee (Nappily Ever After).
The period drama "A Jazzman’s Blues," thriller "A Fall From Grace" and comedy "A Madea Homecoming"— are all completed Netflix projects by Tyler Perry that reflect his versatility as a film-maker.

Perry will broach the documentary genre with "Maxine's Baby," his biographical story.
In his four-picture deal with Amazon Studios two films have been announced: “Black, White & Blue,” a police brutality drama, and “Divorce in the Black,” about a broken marriage.
“Divorce in the Black” stars Meagan Good (“Harlem”), Cory Hardrict (“All American: Homecoming”), Joseph Lee Anderson (“Young Rock”), Taylor Polidore (“Snowfall”), Shannon Wallace (“City on a Hill”), Richard Lawson (“For Colored Girls”) and Debbi Morgan (“Power Book II: Ghost”).
Good stars as Ava, a young bank professional who is devastated when her husband Dallas leaves. Ava tries to fight for the marraige “until fate intervenes, revealing Dallas’ wicked deeds that have trashed their marriage, and once upon a time sabotaged Ava’s destiny to be loved by her true soulmate.”
“Black, White & Blue” looks at a relatiinship ending from a completley different angle. Plating Fela, Meagan Tandy (“Batwoman”) wants to get to the bottom of why police killed her husband Rodney Blackburn (Adeyeye). Yhe cast includes Kat Graham (“The Vampire Diaries”), Tyler Lepley (“Harlem”), ), Josh Adeyeye (“Ruthless”), RonReaco Lee (“First Wives Club”), Jimi Stanton (“Your Honor”), Shannon LaNier (“God’s Not Dead 3”) and Nick Barrotta (“The Oval”).
Keeping the agreements non-exclusive gives Perry, a studio owner, the flexibility to work with BET, Amazon and Netflix simultaneously.
