THE SLICE NEWS TOP STORIES OF 2023

THE SLICE NEWS: As we close the final page on 2023, let's look back at the topics that we covered the most and why we chose them.

As an independent news source the content we deliver is a testament to our values. Legacy media chooses to rehash old news to be competitive, denying the American people a taste of the feast of subject matter to which they deserve to be exposed. We can't do it all. No one can. But we can at east be different. AND deliberate about not depriving people of being educated on more than a handful of the same topics. We are as informative as possible in the news snippet format, providing a broad range of news.

Every day we wake up to share news that has an affect on you and our world. Everyday choosing what to prioritize in our coverage and how long to keep various topics afloat in an ever-changing news cycle gets more difficult. Since 2020 political news has been the most watched. And just when you think it could not get any more turbulent another twist in American politics is sure to grab headlines, knocking all else aside. Striving to achieve balance in what we offer, we hope that you find your interests are addressed in our work and you see the value of being a Black and woman owned media entity in our coverage. Serving from the epicenter of world politics, Washington, DC has afforded us an opportunity to deliver news content fast. We are designed to sacrifice words, never facts. Sometimes we go deeper and produce full length articles. When this happens we really want you to pay more attention. The Slice News thanks you for choosing us as we build a unique journalistic enterprise.

We are on our way to attaining the goal of becoming a digital news leader with improvements ready to launch next year. Stick with us longer won't you?

We look forward to continuously being an independent voice in news during the 2024 presidential election. You can count on us to be there to ask questions to keep the candidates honest and expose the truth when they are not.

Now, adieu 2023.

In reviewing our year, the political goongs-on at the White House and Capitol Hill consumed most of our reporing. Outside of having a birds-eye view at numerous White House events from state visits to special honors ceremonies, here are the topics that garnered the most of our attention. They were selected either because they dominated in news headlines or we discerned they were the most relevant to you:

1.Mass shootings/gun reform
2.Damar Hamlin's on-field collapse and cardiac arrest
3. AI
4. Abortion/ Reproductive health
5. Affirmative action in college admissions
6. Student loan debt fogiveness
7. Russia/ UKraine
8. Rise in antisemetism
9. Reduction in SNAP and medicare benefits
10. Cora Jakes and Richard Brandon Coleman scandal
