Where Super Tuesday Elections Are Held and Why It's Super Important to Vote

Good SUPER TUESDAY morning! It's time to vote @votewithauthority! Voting for the presidential primary election takes place in 16 states including Virginia. Polls will be open in the Commonwealth from 6 AM until 7 PM. Candidates can snag the largest majority of delegates in the Super Tuesday contest. This is why primaries are significant -- the delegate count. In Virginia's Presidential Primary Republicans have 48 delegates and Democratic have 99. The next big race happens next week in Georgia where Republicans could gain 59 delegates and the Democrats 108. Some states are winner take all and some operate by a percentage.

WHY YOU SHOULD NEVER MISS PRIMARIES

Ultimately delegates choose who runs for president. The candidate with the overall largest total number of delegates will be named the nominee for their respective party at the party's convention later this year. As the Slice News explained in a write up on this last week, voters should take primaries seriously. They are not "symbolic" or simply a part of going though he motions. Primary votes help move the democratic process along according to how the Constitution set it up.

The number of delegates is determined by the representation at the state level among other factors. The party with the majority will have a larger number of delegates. The role voters play is critical because you make an initial choice that reverberates through the entire process. Party dominance can have a pay off from the local to the state and federal level.

I'll be providing Vote With Authority election coverage on air today. The Slice News encourages voter participation. Your voice makes a difference!
