Police kill young black man sleeping in his car

BODY CAM VIDEO RELEASED IN OFFICER INVOLVED CASE OF SHOOT FIRST AND ASK QUESTIONS LATER

On Feb. 9, Vallejo, CA police shot and killed 20-year-old Willie McCoy while he did not appear to pose a threat. Recently released bodycam footage revealed police responding A Taco Bell employee reported to 911 that someone was nonresponsive in the drive through line. The car was stalled and the victim, presumably asleep, did not respond to cars honking or someone knocking on the car window. Six police showed up in response to the call.
McCoy did not respond to verbal commands. He appears to awaken when a patrol car bumps the rear of his vehicle. He is e One cop fired his gun "thinking" McCoy was reaching for his gun, then all five others followed suit like a firing squad. Villejo police say the gun McCoy had in his possession was stolen from Oregon.
The officers continue to yell "Let me see your hands," after multiple shots were fired. By then it was too late.
McCoy was an aspiring rapper with a rap sheet that some are trying to hold against him. His death is an account of a growing number of Black men who have died at the hands of police without directly breaking the law.
Activists are crying foul saying this is injustice in "Black and White." In total contrast to this scenario, police who captured Dylan Rooth, took the White South Carolina man who killed 9 people at Mother Emmanuel Church to grab lunch before taking him to the police station.
Family members want answers as to why the situation was not handled differently.
The officers involved in McCoy's death have all been placed on administrative leave during this on-going investigation.
