A historic first Sunday night at the Emmys for Viola Davis. The star of "Howto Get Away with Murder" is the first African American woman to win the Emmy for Best Actress in a Drama Series.
When accepting the award Davis said, "The Only thing that separates women of color form anyone else is opportunity
During her speech, Davis acknowledged other well-known Black actresses.
“And to the Taraji P. Hensons, the Kerry Washingtons, the Halle Berrys, the Nicole Beharies, the Meagan Goods, to Gabrielle Union: Thank you for taking us over that line. Thank you to the Television Academy,” she said.
